For the first time, we have tested the reversible SO2 adsorption–desorption capacity of a metal–organic polyhedron based on Cu(ii) ions and carbazole motifs. Furthermore, its absorption–emission properties after SO2 emissions were investigated.

We report the first experimental investigation of porous organic cages (POCs) for the demanding challenge of SO2 capture. Three structurally related N‐containing cage molecular materials were studied. An imine‐functionalized POC (CC3) showed mode
