Satellites are expected to play a significant role in the future of global quantum networks. Small satellites such as those following CubeSat standards may enable space-based quantum networks. CubeSat type satellites require less resources to develop

Quantum sources and receivers operating on-board satellites are an essential building block for global quantumnetworks. SpooQy-1 is a satellite developed at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, which has successfully demonstrated the operation of an

Polarization entangled photon-pairs are generated and detected onboard a 3U CubeSat in low-Earth orbit that violate Bell’s inequality with a CHSH parameter of 2.60 ± 0.06. These results pave the way for space-based quantum networks.

Global quantum networks for secure communication can be realised using large fleets of satellites distributing entangled photon-pairs between ground-based nodes. Because the cost of a satellite depends on its size, the smallest satellites will be mos

Nanostructured and bulk silicon carbide (SiC) has recently emerged as a novel platform for quantum nanophotonics due to its harboring of paramagnetic color centers, having immediate applications as a single photon source and spin optical probes. Here
We experimentally demonstrate a source of polarization entangled photon-pairs based on a single periodically-poled potassium titanyl phosphate (PPKTP) crystal pumped with a broadband, free running laser diode. The crystal is placed within a linear bea

We report on the use of elliptical pump spatial modes to increase the observed brightness of spontaneous parametric downconversion in critically phase matched crystals. Simulations qualitatively predict this improvement which depends on the eccentric

We present the use of liquid crystal retarders (LCR) as phase control elements in optical quantum technologies. We show that an entangled photon pair state can be actively controlled using an LCR without introducing state mixing or polarization drift
