IL-10 can limit inflammation in part by inhibiting miR-155. Here the authors show how this axis induces mitochondrial arginase-2 to alter the mitochondrial dynamics and bioenergetics of macrophages and make these cells less pro-inflammatory.

Despite being in the midst of a global pandemic of infections caused by the pathogen Chlamydia trachomatis, a vaccine capable of inducing protective immunity remains elusive. Given the C. trachomatis mucosal port of entry, a formulation compatible wi

Oral vaccination has the potential to offer a safer and more efficacious approach for protection against enteric pathogens than injection-based approaches, especially in developing countries. One key advantage is the potential to induce intestinal im

Mitochondria are important regulators of macrophage polarisation. Here, we show that arginase-2 (Arg2) is a microRNA-155 (miR-155) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) regulated protein localized at the mitochondria in inflammatory macrophages, and is critical

Cyclosporine A has long been known to suppress T cell responses by inhibiting the production of IL-2, which drives T cell proliferation, enabling its use as a therapeutic for transplantation or autoimmunity. However, cyclosporine A also impacts on in
