The taxonomy of extinct species of Cuniculus (Caviomorpha, Rodentia, Mammalia) is confusing and poorly studied. Here we provide a taxonomic review of extinct cuniculids, and discuss the taxonomic, biogeographic, taphonomic and chronologic aspects of

We present an open source package for performing evolutionary quantitative genetics analyses in the R environment for statistical computing. Evolutionary theory shows that evolution depends critically on the available variation in a given population.

Recent South Americans have been described as presenting high regional cranial morphological diversity when compared to other regions of the world. This high diversity is in accordance with linguistic and some of the molecular data currently availabl

Os Xenarthra representam um clado de mamíferos eutérios. Pouco se sabe sobre a evolução morfológica craniana do grupo. Esta tese iniciou os estudos relativos a esta questão com base na genética quantitativa, na morfometria e na sistemática, e

Understanding how development changes the genetic covariance of complex phenotypes is fundamental for the study of evolution. If the genetic covariance changes dramatically during postnatal ontogeny, one cannot infer confidently evolutionary response

The prevalence of stasis on paleontological and comparative data has been classically taken as evidence of the strong role of stabilizing selection in shaping morphological evolution. When confronted against biologically informed predictions, empiric

The magnitude of morphological integration is a major aspect of multivariate evolution, providing a simple measure of the intensity of association between morphological traits. Studies concerned with morphological integration usually translate phenot

A recurrent aspect of the fossil record is the observation of a disproportionate number of specimens or individuals of a single taxon in some deposits, which is stated as dominance. Commonly, the dominance is explained as the result of catastrophic o
