We find all the arithmetically Gorenstein divisors on Fano varieties \({Y\subset\mathbb {P}^u}\) of dimension n and index r with 3 ≤ n ≤ 2r − 1 and ρ(Y) ≥ 2, where Y is smooth, connected, subcanonical and linearly normal.

In this note we classify subcanonical, Gorenstein and complete intersection smooth connected curves lying on del Pezzo surfaces, by showing their classes in Pi- card groups of the surfaces.
