A new signal quality metric and novel margin allocation technique for a page based holographic memory system were developed. The margin allocation result for a 500GB capacity system is both realistic and achievable.

A 121 multiplexed recording was performed at a raw data recording density of 663 Gbits/inch2. As a rough estimate, data capacity of 12cm disc becomes 549GB under the condition that books are laid at 663Gbits/inch2 in the disc because recording area o

The media tilt and position tolerances of a high Numerical aperture (NA) holographic data storage system are examined experimentally. The sources for these tolerances are explained and techniques for optimizing the drive tolerances are described.

A method is presented for reading holographic data pages with a non-pixel matched detector array. The method employs sub-Nyquist oversampling and a system of alignment fiducials that can compensate for slowly varying image distortions.
