In this contribution, we study two meter-scale cycles from the Kimmeridge Clay Formation (cored near Marton, Yorkshire) which shows cyclic organic matter (OM) distribution. Our aim is to try to understand the factors responsile for (OM) accumulation.

The early diagenesis of the superficial sediment of the Lac du Bouchet has been studied by analysis of interstitial water and solid phase. 14C dating of the sediment gives 2500±350 years at a depth of 80 cm below the sediment-water Interface (SWI).
