We've developed a 3-dimensional hydrogel cell culture to investigate the effects of ultrafast laser pulses on soft biological tissues. We characterize the physical and histological impact of intense laser irradiation at >100MHz repetition rates.

Harmonics up to the 15th order are produced from solid targets using 3 mJ, 30 fs pulses focused to a spot size of 1.7 µm and 3×1018 W/cm2. Combined conversion efficiency to the highest harmonics is > 10−5.

We characterize the cellular impact of intense 1-ps laser irradiation at >100MHz repetition rates on viable cell cultures at several incident laser parameters (i.e., pulse intensity and burst duration).
