Imaging spectroscopy allows us to identify surface materials by analyzing the spectra resulting from the light–material interaction. In this preliminary study, we analyze a pair of hyperspectral cubes acquired by PRISMA (on 20 April 2021) and EO1-

Abstract Quantifying natural geological sources of methane (CH4) allows to improve the assessment of anthropogenic emissions to the atmosphere from fossil fuel industries. The global CH4 flux of geological gas is, however, an object of debate. Recent

Large-scale concentric structures are enigmatic geological features observed on the Earth surface and on other planetary bodies. Their formation has been attributed to several processes. Here we describe for the first time the results of mapping and

Marine transform faults and associated fracture zones (MTFFZs) cover vast stretches of the ocean floor, where they play a key role in plate tectonics, accommodating the lateral movement of tectonic plates and allowing connections between ridges and t

The behavior and the rheology of mud during the emplacement of terrestrial sedimentary volcanism has been extensively investigated (e.g., [1,2]). In contrast, this is not the case for Mars and other planetary bodies within the Solar System for which

On endogenous and exogenous factors controlling the behaviour of the Lusi eruption (Java, Indonesia)
The Lusi eruption started on Java Island on the 29th of May 2006, almost two days after a M6.5 earthquake struck Yogyakarta. More than 16 years later, Lusi is still erupting clasts, mud, oil, and surges of thermogenic methane and mantle-derived CO2.

Warming global climate threatens the stability of the polar regions and may result in cascading broad impacts. Studies conducted on permafrost in the Arctic regions indicate that these areas may store almost twice the carbon currently present in the

Contemporary studies conducted in northern polar regions reveal that permafrost stability plays an important role in the modern carbon cycle as it potentially stores considerable quantities of greenhouse gases. Rapid and recent warming of the Arctic
