International audience; Acquiring images of archaeological artifacts is an essential step for the study and preservation of cultural heritage. In constrained environments, traditional acquisition techniques may fail or be too invasive. We present an

Designer spectacles look great and we want the same for a virtual display. A curved wedge guide will be described that can transfer the virtual image from a projector near the ear round to the pupil of the eye. The eye-box is tiny but the plan is to

The conventional LCD was designed around fluorescent backlights but bright LEDs make different compromises possible. A suitably designed light-guide lets us collimate the light then diffuse it over a precise range of angles, eliminating waste. There

Liquid crystal display (LCD) technology will struggle to display high resolution on screens as big as whiteboards. Yet there is demand also for less power consumption, 3-D images, and that the display should be able to see gestures and feel touch. Mo

We have used a wedge light guide to capture images in front of an LCD as if from a point deep behind. We have also used it to illuminate an LCD so as to be visible to only one viewer. These two features offer the prospect of a digital window.

In order to demonstrate the Wedge as a parallel optic we have built a flat panel multi-projector autostereoscopic 3D display. The bulk, otherwise inherent in such displays, has been eliminated by use of a wedge-shaped light-guide. Two 280-mm (11") di

Wedge projection displays can be made economically in small quantities by machining the wedge profile on a thick sheet of cast acrylic, machining a constant thickness on a thin sheet of cast acrylic, then index-matching the two together. The resultin
