Spatial self-phase modulation (SSPM), i.e. the formation, temporal evolution and subsequent distortion of self-diffraction ring patterns, generated by transmitting a continuous wave 532 nm laser beam through solutions containing C _60 or C _70 has be

When using kilowatt-class lasers in outdoor environments, ensuring laser safety turns out to be a complex issue due to the large safety areas that must be respected. For the special cases of collimated or focused laser radiation reflected from ideall

Many organic and inorganic materials like dyes, carbon based nanomaterials and inorganic nanoparticles were found to show strong interaction with laser light. Nanoparticles offer the advantage that they can be designed specifically with respect to th

In the field of computer experiments, when the relations between the outputs and the inputs of the computer code are complex, the Space Filling Designs (SFD) are used to study the outputs all over the domain or to build metamodels. It is necessary th

We study the influence of each Zernike mode on the propagation of a laser beam through the atmosphere by two different numerical methods. In the first method, an idealized adaptive optics system is modeled to subtract a certain number of Zernike mode

We introduce orthogonally coded modulations for active coherent beam combining (CBC), and show how using Walsh codes enables the increase of the number of combined channels. Analytical, numerical, and experimental results are presented and compared t

We present active phase-locking of fiber amplifiers using Walsh coded modulations. Numerical simulations demonstrate the potential of this technique to tag multiple fibers with a single frequency and enhance power scaling capability.

Coherent beam combining (CBC) in pulse regime is challenging because phase variation through gain depletion or nonlinear effects can be expected inside the pulses, usually very fast compared to the CBC phase-lock controller bandwidth. CBC by frequenc
