Here we report efficient generation of femtosecond pulses at 525 nm by the extracavity frequency doubling of the output of a diode-pumped mode-locked Yb:KYW laser using a periodically-poled LiTaO/sub 3/ crystal (PPLT).

In this presentation we report results when PbS QD-doped glass has been implemented as a saturable absorber for the passive mode-locking of a cw Cr:YAG laser. The tuning range covered optical communication wavelengths around 1500 nm.

Room temperature cw laser action of Yb3+-doped KY(WO4)2 and KGd(WO4)2 crystals at 1026-1044 nm has been demonstrated under pumping by 980 nm fiber-coupled InGaAs laser diode. A slope efficiency of Yb-lasers up to 53% has been obtained.
