An experimental study of excited states of 11C below 6.5 MeV has been made using the 10B (d, nγ)11C reaction at a deuteron bombarding energy of 0.8 MeV. Measurements were made of the n–γ angular correlations of the ground-state gamma transitions

The quenching parampter kB in the equation for the specific fluorescence dS/dx = A(dE/dx)/STA1 + kB(dE/dx)! was determined for a number of different samples of plastic scintillator NE102. Gamma rays and alpha particles were used, and for one sample a

Using the Thomas-Fermi distribution for the electronic charge in an atom, Landau and Lifshitz have shown that Born's formula for scatterng applied to the elastic scattering of electrons yields the scattering cross section sigma = (const)(Z/sup 4/3//v

The penetration of positrons (0.544-MeV maximum) from a ${\mathrm{Na}}^{22}$ source through absorber foils of A1, Cu, Sn, and Au has been measured in vacuum (${10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ torr). It was found that the transmitted-positron intensity decreas

In this paper we describe the design and operation of a low energy (0 to 100 eV) cylindrical electrostatic positron spectrometer. The spectrometer was calibrated with electrons from a heated tungsten coil. Its energy resolution was measured to be 7%.

An electromagnetic wave incident on the common surface between two isotropic dielectrics must satisfy Maxwell's boundary conditions at the surface. The existence of these boundary conditions results in a reflected wave and a transmitted wave into the

The effects of controlled porosity on the dielectric breakdown of sintered MgAl2O4 were measured using an acoustic emission technique. Results are compared to a statistical model relating dielectric strength to a random distribution of spherical pore
