Abstract We report on experimental and numerical investigation of burst-mode supercontinuum generation in sapphire crystal. The experiments were performed using bursts consisting of two 190 fs, 1030 nm pulses with intra-burst repetition rates of 62.5

We study supercontinuum generation with femtosecond mid-infrared laser pulses in NaCl and KBr crystals when pumped at the vicinity of their zero group velocity dispersion points. Almost three octave-spanning SC spectra (covering the 0.7–5.4 μm and

We study numerically and experimentally self-focusing dynamics of femtosecond light pulses. By demonstrating the potential of three dimensional imaging technique for quantitative recovery of complex (arbitrarily shaped) wave packets, we monitor space

We report on observation of self-guiding of picosecond laser pulses in air that produces large-scale self-phase modulation. The converging picosecond laser beam produced a confined filament over 3 m of propagation with the whitelight spectrum.

The generation of power- and wavelength-scalable few optical cycle pulses remains one of the major challenges in modern laser physics. Over the past decade, the development of table-top optical parametric chirped pulse amplification-based systems was

Abstract The formation and evolution of laser-induced periodic surface structures in fused silica under irradiation of widely tunable (in the 1–3 $$\upmu$$ μ m range) linearly polarized femtosecond (200 fs) pulses was studied experimentally. The s

Materials with a spatially uniform but temporally varying optical response have applications ranging from magnetic field-free optical isolators to fundamental studies of quantum field theories. However, these effects typically become relevant only fo

Nonlinear propagation of intense femtosecond laser pulses in bulk transparent media leads to a specific propagation regime, termed femtosecond filamentation, which in turn produces dramatic spectral broadening, or superbroadening, termed supercontinu
