In order to replace the expensive metal/ligand catalysts and classic toxic and volatile solvents, commonly used for the hydration of alkynes, the hydration reaction of alkynes was studied in the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluorobor

In this paper we present the first electrochemical generation of NHC carried out in a divided flow cell. The flow cell operated in the recycle mode. The need for a divided cell derived from the anodic electroactivity of the electrogenerated carbene.

A synthesis of N-monodeuteriomethyl-2-substituted piperidines is described. An efficient and readily scalable anodic methoxylation of N-formylpiperidine in an undivided microfluidic electrolysis cell delivers methoxylated piperidine 3, which is a pre

A Grubbs II catalyst mediated ring-closing metathesis (RCM) of monobrominated dienes is reported to proceed in moderate to good yields (40–80%) where the linking chain contains five atoms, leading to carbocyclic and heterocyclic seven-membered brom

We disclose a general two-step procedure to access hitherto unknown and under explored 5- and 6-alkynyl-3-fluoro-2-pyridinamidoximes from 5- and 6-bromo-3-fluoro-2-cyanopyridines and a wide range of easily available and bench-stable terminal alkynes,

Channelrhodopsin‐2 (ChR2) is a light‐gated cation channel and was used to lay the foundations of optogenetics. Its dark state X‐ray structure has been determined in 2017 for the wild‐type, which is the prototype for all other ChR variants. Ho

We explore the oft-repeated claim that river water quality in Great Britain is "better now than at any time since the Industrial Revolution". We review available data and ancillary evidence for seven different categories of water pollutants: (i) bioc
