Wind load design for a transmission tower targets mainly strong winds caused by a typhoon. The probability that a tornado hits a tower body directly is very small in Japan, but it is known that some traces of a tornado are occasionally recognized in

The wind load design of transmission lines requires the information of strong wind caused by a typhoon. The information in a mountainous area, where wind observation data are not sufficient, is to be made by a computational simulation. Although WRF,

Wind forces acting on a tower-supported steel stack affected by its ancillary equipment, such as a steel tower and stairway, were investigated by a wind tunnel test. A one-hundredth-scale rigid model of upper half of a tower-supported steel stack of

Generally, a transmission tower is designed statically based on Japanese civil standard: Design Standard on Structures for Transmission, JEC127-(1979). However a special tower, e.g. very high tower and a tower under gusty wind, is designed dynamicall

This paper reports on the displacement of conductors that have different lengths between adjacent spans, under strong winds with an uplift component. Our findings were mainly as follows: (1) in the case of a conductor without inclined spans, an uplif

A transmission tower is submitted to wind loads acting on the tower body and the conductors. A vertical difference of adjacent supports of conductors as well as a different distance between adjacent towers generates non-balanced tension of conductors
