We investigated the influence of a high-power optical transmission on an optical connector by focusing on the fiber withdrawal phenomenon. Along with the curvature radius and the convex vertex eccentricity, fiber withdrawal is one of the key factors

Management for the temperature increase of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles (EV) is required for safety and energy efficiency. As a cooling medium for lithium-ion batteries, one suitable candidate is trimethylolethane (TME) hydrate, which m

We investigated the conditions that cause a connector damage during a high-power transmission in an optical connector with house dust on its endface. In this paper, to examine the connector conditions that cause the connector damage, we focused on op

We propose a connection structure that combines a perpendicular ferrule and solid refractive index matching material that can solve the problem of increased difficulty in connector design and manufacturing when more fibers need are connected.

We investigated the influence of a high-power transmission on the structural and optical characteristics of an optical connector with a large splice loss. We show the relationship between optical power loss and fiber withdrawal.

The development of the eco-friendly technology generating energy will be a gradual requirement all over the world to replace thermal power releasing CO2 and nuclear power for which the wastes are disposed of with great difficultly. The hydrate-heat e

We have developed two types of field installable connection techniques. One is mechanical splicing, which is used to connect coated optical fibers without the need for stripping or cleaning procedures. The other is a field assembly connection techniq

We propose a new splicing technique by precisely aligning and directly connecting coated fibers with a capillary. The assembled splice for 1.3-μm single-mode fibers with an 80 μm cladding and a 125 μm coating can provide a low insertion loss of 0.

The mechanical splice characteristics of a single-mode hole-assisted fiber (SM-HAF) are investigated both numerically and experimentally. Mode-coupling theory is used to investigate the mechanical splice loss characteristic of the HAF. We introduced
