In this work, we continuously control the second-order nonlinear optical activity by tuning the piezoelectric property in a series of rubidium manganese hexacyanoferrates, RbIxMnII[FeIII(CN)6](x+2)/3·zH2O. Above x = 0.7, second harmonic generation (

An 8-year-old boy with goiter and bilateral nerve deafness had a 46% discharge of radioiodine after thiocyanate administration. He was clinically euthyroid. Although the serum total T4 was low (2.4 mug/100 ml) and TSH was significantly high (181 muU/

Kinetics of T3 and T4 were studied in a case of TBG deficiency with hypothyroidism. Serum total and free T4 of 35-year-old man were 0.6 μg/100ml and 0.54 ng/100ml, respectively. Serum total and free T3 were 18 ng/100ml and 74 pg/100ml, respectively.

The effect of cadmium on thyroxine (T/sub 4/) outer ring monodeiodination was studied in vivo and in vitro in the rat liver. One microgram of T/sub 4/ was incubated with rat liver homogenates in 50 mM Tris-HCl buffer, pH 7.4, with or without 0.5, 5,

Monodeiodination is a major pathway of T4 metabolism in the rat as well as in man. The active thyroid hormone, T3, is produced by outer ring deiodination of T4. Thiol agents such as dithiothreitol (DTT), mercaptoethanol, and reduced gluthathione are

A new method for the quantitative determination of free triiodothyronine (fT3) and an accurate method for the quantitative determination of free thyroxine (fT4) in human plasma were developed. The percentages of T3 and T4 in plasma were studied by th
