International audience; It has frequently been hypothesized that quantitative resistance increases the durability of qualitative (R-gene mediated) resistance but supporting experimental evidence is rare. To test this hypothesis, near-isogenic lines w

Screening of 212 spring type Brassica napus lines carrying B genome chromosome additions and introgressions from B. nigra, B. juncea and B. carinata resulted in the identification of one line segregating for resistance to Leptosphaeria maculans (anam

The resistance carried by chromosome 4 of the Brassica B genome confers on the Brassica napus–B. nigra addition line ‘LA4+’ a high level of resistance to Leptosphaeria maculans isolates at the cotyledon stage under controlled conditions and at

Summary The Brassica napus-B. juncea recombinant lines MX and MXS carrying a B. juncea major gene (JLml) in the genetic background of a spring- or a winter type B. napus cultivar, respectively, were tested for their resistance level to Leptosphaeria

Nine Norwegian Red cattle, aged 7-14 months, persistently infected with bovine virus diarrhoea virus (BVDV) were inoculated with a Swedish strain of Babesia divergens. Six persistently infected cattle of the same age and breed were kept as controls.

Pairwise combinations were carried out between the eight isolates originating from each of three asci of the B-group of Leptosphaeria maculans. Some of the pairings produced mature pseudothecia when incubated on wheat straws at 18°C and under a 12-h

A flock of sheep consisting of 60-70 winterfed ewes was examined. Blood was collected from approximately 30% of the sheep four times from 1991 to 1995. Eperythrozoon ovis (Ep. ovis) organisms were not detected in blood smears stained with Wright's st

The characteristics of 36 isolates of Leptosphaeria maculans originating from cv. Picra were investigated using cultural, pathogenicity and isozyme analyses in comparison with six known isolates of A- and B-groups. Picra-related isolates were similar

Brassica napus-B. nigra addition lines were previously created using the variety ‘Darmor’ as the oilseed rape genetic background. Two isozyme loci and 46 RAPD markers were added on five different B. nigra chromosomes. The oilseed rape variety use
